Tennis Skirts

Hey! It’s me again, with another sporty closet fave I can’t get enough of. While my summer tennis lessons as a tot sadly didn’t turn me into Serena, I figured what I lacked in skill, I could make up for in style. I remember feeling too cute in elementary school when my mom did my hair in Venus and Serena’s iconic beaded braids and that’s the same way I feel every time I throw on a tennis skirt. I have a classic, black mini passed down from my oldest sister that’s been with me through every style phase since middle school and it’s absolutely one of my top 5 pieces I own. You can go sporty, preppy, or even a little saucy, but regardless it’s guaranteed to be a lewk. Continue below for how to style and some of the tennis skirts still up on my wishlist.

STREETWEAR CHIC

Graphic tees truly are the ultimate closet staple that make every fit look cooler. When pairing with a tennis skirt, opt for a relaxed or oversized fit. You can either do a full tuck into your skirt or a side tuck with more oversized tees. I love that Zoë wore hers with socks and Mary Jane flats to throw in a dash of prep but this fit also looks bomb with chunky sneakers and crew socks.

PREP PERFECTION

Tennis skirts always remind me of my uniform days so I couldn’t not show love to the prep aesthetic. All you need for this look is an oversized sweatshirt and a collared shirt to layer underneath. Finish the outfit with some kicks for a sporty vibe or with high socks and loafers in true uniform fashion.

BACK TO BASICS

Since tennis skirts are a statement on their own, you can keep things pretty minimal on top. Styling with a basic tank (regular or cropped) or a tank bodysuit is perfect for a summer daytime look. I also love the idea of going monochromatic and throwing a blazer on top like the first look for a night vibe.
