Bandana Print, the Print you Need this Spring

Don’t call it a comeback, it’s been here for years (#tbt to this 2000s Beyoncé moment!) Seeing as we’ve all likely owned a bandana or two in our life (and maybe even, fashioned one into a DIY mask this past year,) this print is as universal as it gets. It translates into menswear as well as it does womenswear and it’s unique without being overwhelming. The print slowly creeped back into rotation this past winter in outerwear, but it hits different in soft pastels and bright pops of color. Whether you want to dabble in the print with some fun separates or with accessories, there is sure to be an iteration of the trend that suits your aesthetic. Continue below for some style inspiration and a few of my favorite bandana paisley pieces available now.

WOMENSWEAR

With spring in the air, I highly recommend opting for a pastel or pop of color when trying out this print. This print looks amazing in camp-collar tops, summer shorts and relaxed-fit button-ups. If you opt for a bandana print top or bottom in a pastel or bright color, pair with pieces in a neutral color or a color within the print. If you choose a matching set instead, style with minimalist jewelry and understated shoes.

MENSWEAR

ASAP Rocky in this Loewe set has been living in my mind rent-free since this #MenswearMonday post, so I’m thrilled I could finally sneak it into a blog post. This print has been in heavy rotation in the NBA and doesn’t seem like it’s slowing down anytime soon. You can keep it simple with a two-color allover paisley or take it a step further with a multi-color patchwork paisley. When putting your fit together, let the printed piece be the central focus and keep the rest of the items simple and lowkey.

ACCESSORIES

It’s the bags for me! The most exciting part about this trend has been seeing Black-owned brands like Yaito and Brandon Blackwood re-imagine the bandana print in their designs. While Yaito comes through with the prettiest spring pastels, Brandon Blackwood offers a classic black/white colorway. If you really love this print, a bag is the perfect investment for you to get the most wears out of it. Both brands are currently sold out in their bandana prints, but you can follow them on IG for updates on upcoming restocks.
