NOVELTY DENIM

This week’s topic is denim! Most of us have that one pair of jeans that we adore and reach for time and time again. It’s super easy to get stuck in a denim rut and end up with several pairs that are basically slightly varied versions of each other. Over the past few years, denim has had a renaissance of sorts and jeans have become more of a fashion piece than just a staple. By the end of this post, I hope y’all are inspired to branch out and cop a pair that stray from your go-to lewk.

Another way to stray from your usual go-to jeans is to dive into some hem interests! It can be anything from embellishments, a raw hem, a really wide cuff or an interesting shape at the leg opening. I loveeee the subtlety of this pair that has inverted jean details at the hem (peep the belt loops at the front and patch pockets at the back!) When experimenting with hem details, you can choose a different silhouette altogether or pick an option in your fave fit.

Patchwork/colorblock denim is one of my fave spins on the average pair of jeans. Not only do you get multiple shade washes in one, you also get lots of cool seaming details. For a casual weekend look, pair with a bodysuit, mules and a denim jacket. 

Distressed or ripped jeans are one of the easiest ways to switch up your denim game. Depending on your comfort level, you can choose a pair with a few subtle rips or wild out with a pair with lots of thigh out vibes. For a long time, I was vehemently opposed to the overly distressed ripped jeans look, but seeing the way @thenotoriouskia styled them helped me see the light. With ripped jeans, you can either veer casual and rock them with a graphic tee and hightop kicks or go more polished with a boyfriend blazer and pumps.

We talked about utility jumpsuits a few weeks ago, so I was immediately swooning over these utility jeans! I’m definitely partial to high waisted fits because I love anything that snatches the waist but I also adore the baggier fit on the bottom (and all the pockets!) Since this has a borrowed from the boys feel, I wanted to contrast it with this bustier-inspired puff sleeve crop and some lowkey flatforms.
